Take a moment to think of someone who has made a difference in your life. Someone who has helped you see things in a different light. Someone who has made you new.
Being friends with Christ is no different. When we surrender to Christ's word and his teachings, we become new. We realize that many of the assumptions that we had were wrong. Not only about the world, but about other people and ourselves. We realize that many of the limiting beliefs that we thought to be absolute, don't even exist. But more than anything, we realize that everything that has caused restlessness and sadness is not really a part of us.
We do not let him into our hearts simply by attending mass, by speaking of him or reading blog posts. This is all good for us, but it doesn't create a relationship. We open our hearts to Christ in the same way we do with friends. We speak, we listen, we surrender, and we trust. When we let Christ in our hearts, old things wither away, limiting beliefs vanish, and real life begins.
