In times of war and conflict, towers provided safety and visibility to communities against approaching enemies. It’s quite interesting that we are told that the name of the Lord is as strong and safe as these towers were in ancient times.
A few years back, I mentioned some restlessness to my Mother, who quickly raised a question “What are you worrying about?” “Dread,” I responded, admitting that it felt like a overarching dread on possible outcomes. She said, “Just repeat Jesus’ name over and over. Invite him into these thoughts. He will silence them for you.” My Grandmother used to tell me the same thing when I was younger and afraid of the dark in my room at night.
We seek strength and safety in times of conflict, God’s name is as safe a place as any to refuge in. Run to it and rest for there you will find the silence and peace which you seek.
