I don't fall asleep at night—I fall into sleep. Every night that I crawl into bed, my body melts into the mattress. My very bones are saying, "No more, please, no more." After running around caring for two children all day, my entire being starts shutting down as the sun sets.
The same happens to my soul.
The constant juggle of babies. The constant demands for attention, for food, for hugs, for anything, for everything. At the end of the day, my soul is weary with exhaustion. It asks, "Can I do this another day?" But every moment of every day, God says, "Yes, you can. Yes, you will." All I have to do is take a moment to sit in silence and pray like this:
"Oh Lord, help me. Give me your boundless love to share it with my children and every person I encounter today. Give me your infinite energy to play and dance and sing and carry out acts of service. Give me your graceful balm, to heal my wounds and insecurities, so I may act from a place of love and not fear. Oh Lord, heal me so I may better carry out your Word."
Today, I invite you to try it. Take a moment to set aside a moment to pray and feel God's loving embrace of peace settle upon you.
