I recently watched the remake of Beauty and the Beast which reminded a great deal of this passage. Assuming everyone knows the story well, Belle has prayed with all her heart for passion and adventure. When the time came, her heart guided her to befriend a castle full of enchanted objects and a seemingly atrocious beast. Belle, of a pure heart, trusts it and lets it guide her. In the end, she discovers that her journey has led to the very passion and adventure that her heart had hoped for.
While there are clearly many differences between the story and our own lives, the biggest takeaways are deeper than a 'Disney princess meets her Prince Charming.' The real hook may be that the character advances from an unwavering faith in her heart, rather than by her sight. If we continue to walk and figure things out without being dismayed by how things appear, we give way to the Lord’s ability to take us where we are meant to go.
