Though we don't realize it, many of us do not turn to God when we feel overwhelmed and burdened. We seek outside of ourselves for answers, comfort, and validation. We feast our eyes on the distractions of the world. We go about our day seemingly "handling our feelings." At times, we reveal that we are not doing as good of a job as we think because we lash out, we criticize, and we panic outward.
But if we were to slowly create the habit of going inward, we would find that regardless of life throws at us, we have a place to rest. Going inside offers something new, instead of just dealing with life, we can actually heal the wounds and move on.
Whatever issue burdens you and keeps you up at night, considering inviting God into. Open yourself up to Him, whether it be on your knees before going to bed or while you drive to work. He has peace and rest for whatever ails you. Nothing is impossible. Nothing is unforgivable. Your value never diminishes and love is never taken away from you.
We have the habit of feeling bad and in truth, nothing is as icky as it feels and everything truly is under His care.
Go rest, child.
