There are two kinds of prayers. There is what we think we need in this life, and separately, what our soul craves to keep growing spiritually. From the two prayers that we are working, He knows which one matters more to you and your soul. He knows which prayers will make you more aware of your divinity and that of others. It’s not that the Lord ignores us, but rather listens to the prayers that should be cherished in our hearts.
The more that I open myself up spiritually the more that I realize that my prayers were often swayed by motives that were feeding my ego rather than my soul. Thankfully, sins that are cherished in our hearts are ignored. God prioritizes the prayers in our hearts over the ones on our tongues.
At night, when you begin to feel the rush of all your worries, kneel down and ask God to listen to the prayers in your heart rather than those inspired by other motives. We all have them. We are only human, but as we begin to stray from them, we will to His will rather than our own.
